James along with the rest of the group took the Machame route to Kilimanjaro with fantastic views and amazing surroundings along the way the mountain’s 5,895m summit was reached. It took six challenging days to reach the summit and one day for the trek back down.
One hurdle to overcome is acute mountain sickness with high altitude and fast rate of ascent you have to be prepared to be able to cope with only 48% oxygen. Luckily James was prepared and came back home safe and sound!
James raised an astonishing £7600 for Caudwell Childrens charity which provides family support, specialised therapies and treatment for disabled children.
